Job Overview:
We are a busy, professional dog grooming salon looking for a dedicated Dog Grooming Assistant to support our team on Saturdays. This is a physically active, hands-on role where you’ll be an essential part of the smooth running of our grooming day. No experience is needed – full training will be provided. Please note, this is not a grooming apprenticeship and is unlikely to lead to a grooming role.

Main Duties:
Dog Prep (approx. 70% of the role):
• Bathing: Wash dogs using salon-approved shampoos and conditioners
• Drying: Towel and blow-dry dogs in preparation for grooming
• Brushing/De-matting: Gently brush out coats and remove minor tangles (training provided)
• Ear cleaning and nail trimming support (after training, if required)
• Securing dogs safely in holding areas or crates between stages of grooming
• Assisting groomers by holding or calming dogs during preparation when needed
Salon Cleaning & Maintenance (approx. 30% of the role):
• Daily deep clean of the grooming area, including:
• Sweeping and mopping floors
• Disinfecting grooming tables, bath areas, and tools
• Emptying bins and managing laundry (towels, grooming smocks, etc.)
• Ensuring all grooming products and tools are stocked and stored properly
• Helping to maintain a tidy, safe, and organized work environment

Ideal Candidate Will Be:
• Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
• Physically fit and able to handle wet dogs, stand for long periods, and perform cleaning tasks
• Reliable, punctual, and hard-working
• Willing to learn and follow salon hygiene protocols carefully
• Calm and patient, especially around anxious or excitable dogs
• Able to work well in a fast-paced, team-based environment

Additional Information:
• You’ll be working Saturdays only (5 hours per shift), with a rotating schedule so that some weekends are off
• You will be trained in all prep and cleaning tasks, but this role does not involve training to become a groomer
• Must be 16 or over (adjust if needed), and comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
